C-15 Serum

C-15 Serum
Size: 1 oz

Vitamin C plays a pivotal role in collagen synthesis and in preventing the signs of aging. This two part 15% C formulation allows you to prepare a fresh, un-oxidized, concentrated l-ascorbic acid serum so that it may be used while it’s at its most effective, without needing to substitute less desirable solvents for water.

Potent Vitamin C serums can have a short shelf life due to the rapid oxidation of l-ascorbic acid in aqueous solutions. Formulations are often extremely high in alcohol and/or compromising solvents in place of water so that they may retain some activity by the time the products are used. A dehydrated C serum mix allows for the preparation of an un-oxidized solution without the excessive compromise.

Once solids are completely dissolved in the prefer solution, the aim should be to use up the product within approximately 2 months. Apply to clean skin at least once daily. May be used in conjunction with other serums, once allowed to absorb.

After only a few days of twice daily application, it is generally considered redundant to apply more than once a day, as saturation has likely occurred and now only needs to be maintained. Particularly sensitive skin types may find acid C serums too irritating. Also, because of C-15’s acidic nature, it should not be immediately followed by, or applied over, products containing niacinamide to avoid experiencing symptoms associated with a localized niacin flush. These can include temporary tingling, itching, and redness at the application site for some people. As with all products, store in a reasonably cool environment out of direct light.
